Hade man hoppats på att den bioaktuella Venom-filmen skulle sadla om inför uppföljaren och bjuda på lite mer barnförbjudet material - framförallt nu när Woody Harrelson hintade om att spela den vilde Carnage i filmens eftertext-scen - blir man säkerligen besviken på att det i dagsläget inte verkar finns sådana planer. Filmens producent Avi Arad har nämligen meddelat via Collider att man hellre fokuserar på seriemördarens motivation än på att visa dennes våldsdåd i en eventuell uppföljare:
"When you hear Carnage, the only thing you can think of is R. But, if you know his story, if you really know the comic, there's no R here. He's a tortured soul. It's not about what he does, because we never have to show the knife going from here to there, and the blood is pouring. What you have to show is, what is the motivation? Was he born like that, or is he someone we should feel for, because if you succeeding in making a villain someone you can feel for, jackpot"
Trots negativa recensioner och hård kritik blev Venom en stor framgång för Sony, men just nu finns det inga bekräftade uppgifter på om eller när denna uppföljare ska äga rum. Kan en film med Carnage fungerar utan att vara barnförbjuden, tror du?
