Vi fick nyligen nys om att Warner Bros tillsammans med New Line Cinema bestämt sig för att producera ett gäng nya Lord of the Rings-filmer. Ett beslut som lika mycket överraskad som förargat fans av de klassiska mästerverken Peter Jackson regisserade i början av 2000-talet, och de är inte ensamma. För även Elijah Wood som spelade Frodo i Jacksons trilogi är minst sagt överraskad av beslutet och i en intervju med GQ magazine berättade skådespelaren mer om sina tankar kring det hela.
I'm fascinated and I'm excited. I hope it's good. I'm surprised—I don't know why I'm surprised because, of course there would be more movies. Obviously at the core of that, is a desire to make a lot of money. It's not that a bunch of executives are like, "Let's make really awesome art."

Wood fortsatte även med att berätta om hur originaltrilogin föddes från passion snarare än ett längtan efter att tjäna storkovan (även om studion i slutändan också gjorde det).
"Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy didn't come out of that place. It came out of a passion for these books and wanting to see them realized. And I hope that that is ultimately what will drive everything forward with whatever these subsequent movies are."

I dagsläget är väldigt lite info känt om de nya Lord of the Rings-filmerna men enligt Jackson håller studion kontakt med honom och manusförfattarna han arbetade med, så det känns ju i alla fall en smula betryggande.
