Efter de kolossala framgångarna med Super Mario Bros har det spekulerats friskt om vilken Nintendo-spelserie som skulle bli nästa att anpassas till bioduken. Så sent som förra veckan påstods det till och med vara bekräftat att Illumination börjat planera en animerad film baserad på The Legend of Zelda. Något nu studiochefen Chris Meledandri bestämt skjuter ner i en intervju med The Wrap.
"I don't know where that came from. I mean I can understand how people would surmise all sorts of things because obviously, we've had a great experience working together."
"My relationship with Nintendo now includes being on their board of directors, so I understand how people can surmise these things. But in terms of the specifics, that was just something that I've been hearing lots of reports. This is just about what's next between Nintendo and Illumination."
Det positiva i hans uttalande är dock att det bekräftar hur Illumination och Nintendo nu har ett tydligt och fungerande samarbete vilket bådar gott för framtiden.
