Det blir mindre trauma och tragik i Disneys nyinspelning av den nu 80 år gamla Bambi. I varje fall om vi skall tro manusförfattaren Lindsey Anderson Beer som jobbat på den nya filmen och som kommenterar på hur dagens föräldrar verkar tro att barn är mer känsliga idag jämfört med förr. Och hur det därför ligger i Disneys intresse att förändra historien, specifikt scenerna när Bambis morsa skjuts till döds av en jägare.
"Not to spoil the plot, but there's a treatment of the mom dying that I think some kids, some parents these days are more sensitive about than they were in the past. And I think that's one of the reasons that they haven't shown it to their children."
Beer berättar även om hur hon tycker Disney under omständigheterna funnit en bra väg framåt för den nya versionen av historien.
"I do think there is a way to update Bambi and our take on it was... did give a little bit more of a scope to it. And I just think that to be able to bring it to life for kids these days in a way that maybe they relate to a little bit more would be of service to the original."
Beer jobbar själv inte kvar på Disney utan har istället fokuserat på egna projekt, inte minst då nya Jurtjyrkogården-filmen "Bloodlines" som nyligen fick premiär.
