Shinji Mikami, kanske mest känd för sitt arbete med Resident Evil och Resident Evil 4, har just nu fullt upp med sitt nya spel The Evil Within. Det utannonserades nyligen och backas upp av Bethesda. Ni hittar vår stora förhandstitt av spelet här.
I en amerikansk intervju har Mikami pratat lite om vad det var som fick honom att vilja göra spelet och hur han ser på genren och dess skick idag.
"My definition of survival horror is that first of all it has to be scary. And then you have some kind of scary creature, and you get a rush from blowing it away. A good balance of those two things is what makes survival horror."
Han fortsätter: "Simply put, having the player pick up the controller and be able to genuinely say 'wow, I haven't played a game this scary in ages', that is what we are after. That is the main thing we are focused on."
"For me, personally, why I came back to survival horror is that survival horror as a genre is becoming all action now and there aren't any real survival horror games in the world right now. That is the biggest motivation for me."
Med tanke på att spel som Dead Space 3 och Resident Evil 6 gått mer åt actionhållet är det inte svårt att se en poäng i vad mannen säger.
