Taylor Sheridan och Peter Berg gör film av Call of Duty

Det har under många, många, långa år pratats om en Call of Duty-film och med tanke på att så gott som varenda namnstark spelserie (minus GTA, då) förvandlats till film eller TV-serie redan, är det nästan bara actionmogulen Call of Duty kvar att göra Hollywood-rulle av. Nu står det klart att Yellowstone/Sicario-skaparen Taylor Sheridan (som även står bakom Wind River, Tulsa King, Landman samt Hell or High Water) norpat jobbet som boss över den kommande adaptionen av Infinity Wards miljardsuccé. Sheridan kommer att samarbeta med bästa kompisen Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Patriots Day, Friday Night Lights) som också kommer att regissera Call of Duty: The Movie.

Deadline Hollywood rapporterar följande:
"After landing the rights to turn one of the world's biggest video games into an epic movie, Paramount has now landed two A-list filmmakers to develop it. Sources tell Deadline that Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg have joined Paramount and Activision to develop and produce a Call of Duty movie, with Paramount distributing a live-action feature film. The pic will be designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what players love about the games, a series of first-person shooters centered on military campaigns, while expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences. Berg and Sheridan will co-write, with Berg on board to direct. Berg will produce with his team, and Sheridan is also producing alongside David Glasser."

Call of Duty är en av tidernas största spelserier och Activision har sålt över 500 miljoner exemplar av spelen ur denna följetong som omsatt hisnande 320 miljarder kronor sedfan det första spelet (2003).
