Även om Mass Effect-comebacken troligen dröjer ända till 2029, finns det två kommande scifi-actionrollspel att se fram emot i form av Exodus och The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Det senare har tydlig Mass Effect-inspiration, men Owlcat Games jämför det själva även med en annan typ av rollspel när det gäller speltid.
I en intervju hos Wccftech avslöjar game design director Leonid Rastorguev att spelets längd är "about the length of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33". Det innebär omkring 25-30 timmar av direkt storyinnehåll, men betydligt mer om vi vill göra allt.
Det verkar däremot inte som om särskilt mycket annat från Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 har inspirerat The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, eftersom Mass Effect som sagt tydligt är den främsta inspirationskällan. Längre fram i intervjun talar Rastorguev om hur följeslagarna ska utformas på ett liknande sätt som i Mass Effec, och han samt producenten Yuliya Chernenko nämnde självmordsuppdraget från Mass Effect 2 och hur den tankegången ska tillämpas på alla uppdrag:
"That's where we want to differ from the other games in the same genre, because even if you take two companions with you, the others don't just sit idly on the ship. They try to be useful. They contact you over the radio to give you some advice. They might even appear in the mission in a particular place, or they might have a particular role in the mission. You need to assign them to this role so that they will have other stuff to do during the mission."
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn är under utveckling till PC, PS5 och Xbox Series S/X.
