Ett flertal utvecklare rapporterar att Valve kontaktat dem och bett dem rensa sexuellt innehåll från sina spel på Steam. Det verkar i synnerhet handla om dejtingsimulatorer och visuella noveller. Utvecklaren HuniePot postade ett av Valves email på Twitter där vi bland annat kan läsa att deras spel "violates the rules & guidelines for pornographic content on Steam and will be removed from the store unless the game is updated to remove said content".
En annan studio, Neko Works, skriver:
"We have been informed that adult content in Tropical Liquor must be censored by the end of this month, or the game will be removed from Steam."
Flera andra utvecklare har berörts och många, likt Lupiesoft, är upprörda av Valves reaktion eftersom de anser att deras ecchi-spel (erotiska spel av japanskt snitt) bara är "target for their animé influenced art style, while Western games which are 100x more pornographic content escape unscathed".
